Green Arrow Annual #2 // Review
This issue is by Julia and Shawna Benson with art by Carmen Carbero and colors by Trish Mulvihill
Green Arrow annual #2 ties into No Justice in a big way, No Justice had Green Arrow as a major player and this issue serves as catch up to how Green Arrow got to that point. Julia and Shawna Benson do a stellar job with this issue and if the rest of their run is as good as this issue then we’re in for one hell of a ride. Carmen Carneros art is absolutely stunning and is so clean and crisp, but tbalso helps having Trish Mulvihill is the color department to really make the art pop.
The issue begins with Oliver looking over the box that Martian Manhunter gave him that can wipe out the league and really just works as a catch up from No Justice in case not everyone read it. The issue then jumps back in time to the beginning of No Justice to a beautiful scene of Ollie fighting Brick who is robbing a casino, this is where Oliver learns that all the heroes have disappeared before being hunted by one of Brainiacs ships. The rest of the issue is Batgirl helping Oliver track down Amanda Walker and taking down Brainiacs personal team with powers of the JLA that for some reason wasn’t used in the main event.
This was overall a great issue and a great tie in to No Justice as well. Julia and Shawna Benson seem to be able to handle Green Arrow very well and makes it even more exciting that they will be writing him from now on. This issue gets an A+
