XO Manowar #12 review

XO Manowar #12 review

XO Manowar is by Matt Kindt with art by Andrew Bodenheim and Andrew Dalhouse

This is the best comic with a naked one armed man getting into a fight you will read all week, in all fairness though this is also the only comic with a naked one armed man getting into a fight you will read all week. Other than that the best thing about this issue is they wonderful art and colors by Andrew Bodenheim and Andrew Dalhouse, they give this book a more traditional looking superhero look than this run has had before, which I expect is in part because of XO returning to Earth soon.

The biggest problem with this issue is that things are wrapping up frustratingly quickly with things happening by coincidence way too much. One thing about this run previously has been that everything has moved at a good slower pace to allow world building and everything to get explained in the time needed, but as we draw closer to the end of the arc the story starts to feel very rushed which is painful to see because of how great previous issues have been.

While this is not a bad issue of XO by no means it is also no where near Kindts’ strongest issue either. Hopefully Kindt hits his stride again after this arc ends because it’s becoming obvious he’s ready for Arics time on Gorin to be over. At least we get a visually great looking book though, because the art and colors really pop and are easy on the eyes. This issue  isn’t the greatest story, but the art helps make up for it.
