Sean Gordon Murphy Confirms White Knight Sequel at Awesome Con

Sean Murphy's Batman: White Knight has been a breakout hit for DC. Involving a "cured" Joker helping Gotham Police, White Knight, which Murphy writes and draws and which regularly charts in the Top 5, seems like an obvious candidate for some sort of continuation. Murphy himself hinted to this back in January on Twitter:

This weekend at Awesome Con in DC, Gordon went a bit further, while he was explaining to YDRC the process of how the first series came about:

So DC, when they hired me, they were like, alright, we want you to stay here, we really want you to do a book with Scott Snyder, and I said, well, can I do my own Batman? And they were like, yeah yeah, fine, whatever. Sales were so high on (White Knight), they decided, you know, they are getting a good deal with me, because they only have to pay one person. It’s a top 5 book. I’m low maintenance. I’m not dramatic, I don’t need a lot of oversight. I’m handing them a hit without them having to do much. They like that. So, instead of working with Scott, they said, why don’t you work on your OWN sequel, which we’re still working out the details, and then they wanted Scott to work with Greg (Capullo on the future Batman story that spun out of the story Sean and Scott did from Detective Comics #27), which makes sense, because Greg started Batman with Scott, why not end it that way? Yes, I have a sequel planned. With the sales as they are, it would be crazy not to try it.

While it sounds like it's still in the early planning phase, far from having an announced date, this should give fans of Murphy and White Knight something to look forward to.
