NECA Activision Figures Display // NYTF2019
Kids of the late 90s rejoice! The era of PS1 nostalgia is upon us! Activision has been riding the retro-train hard with their beautiful remastered games of iconic characters Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon. It doesn't stop at just gorgeous HD remakes though, as toy company NECA is also bringing the genetically enhanced marsupial and fire breathing purple saurian to life via the world of action figures.
NECA has released several figures of the titular Crash Bandicoot including a basic 7" scale figure, Deluxe Crash with Jet Board, and a recently released Deluxe Crash with Jetpack. They also had a sample of their upcoming Spyro the Dragon figure which is scheduled for a 2nd quarter release this year.
In addition to the previously unveiled samples, NECA also had a few surprises from the Crash series on display at NYTF2019. First is the Ultra Deluxe Crash Bandicoot figure, a re-release of the Basic mold featuring new paint apps, multiple alternate faces, and an Aku Aku mask. Most surprising of the new reveals were the prototypes of previously unannounced characters including Coco Bandicoot and evil mad scientist Doctor Neo Cortex. Coco and Cortex look phenomenal and hopefully will be successful enough to warrant the inclusion of other characters from the Crash Bandicoot franchise.
The Spyro the Dragon and Ultra Deluxe Crash Bandicoot figures are available for pre-order now at Big Bad Toy Store. Release dates for Coco and Cortex are still to be determined.
