Mattel DC Super Hero Girls // NYTF2019
Since its introduction in 2015, the DC Super Hero Girls multi-media franchise has successfully introduced a whimsical take on the iconic DC heroines to a new generation of fans. On March 8th Cartoon Network will air a new television series rebooting the continuity and revitalizing the brand. Mattel is once again handling the toys for DC Super Hero Girls, unveiling their new line of dolls at New York Toy Fair 2019!
The woman behind the new animated series is animator and writer Lauren Faust famous for her work on the original Powerpuff Girls, My Little Pony Friendship is Magic, and the DC Nation shorts Super Best Friends Forever. The new humor and artstyle are very reminiscent of the SBFF shorts, with the dolls reflecting that new stylized design.
The first assortment of dolls includes the heroic Wonder Woman, Batgirl, Supergirl, Katana, Zatanna, Bumblebee, and Green Lantern. In the cartoon, all of the Super Hero Girls have to live a dual life with their secret identities. Each doll comes with two different outfits to represent their hero or civilian identities. The costume changes are a great feature that brings the show to life and adds to the dolls' playability.
