Funko Toys DC Primal Age Display // NYTF2019
One of the most creative lines is a collaboration between DC Comics and toy company Funko called Primal Age. Primal Age reimagines DC's stable of characters as barbaric warriors in a world of sword and sorcery, with designs very similar to classic 80s toylines such as Masters of the Universe.
The toyline debuted last October at New York Comic Con, with the second wave of figures scheduled for release next March. Wave Two adds Superman, the Flash, Bizarro, Black Manta, Lex Luthor, and an oversized Krypto the Superdog that Superman can mount. Of the new characters, Lex Luthor and Black Manta are especially impressive with Luthor sporting a medieval version of his technologically advanced armor and Manta looking like he burst from the pages of a Jules Vern novel. The Krypto figure is also great, particularly how it illustrates the inclusions of beasts can add variety to the line.
